YRRP 2017 PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION IN CALUBIAN- AN ASTOUNDING SUCCESS

One of the essential factor of implementing the Vegetable Techno-demo farms in the municipality of Calubian as one of the major component in the YRRP 2017 project is the expertise of Agricultural Technologist in implementing the program. With the presence of different farmer associations scattered municipal wide composed of very willing farmer recipients, the project has resulted a very positive results which impacted to the lives of farmer-participants. This project can not be made possible without the very potent minds of the DA Region 8 planners who had cascaded their ideas to the grassroot level. For this reason that we would like to convey our heartfelt gratitude to the regional leaders who had spearheaded this project specially to Boss Lando Hipe who had been constantly monitoring our progress,  SALAMAT SIR.

To give our donors more ideas on the vegetable demo-farms project in Calubian, the picture below shows the distribution of demo sites which had been strategically selected for the project's wider influence.



The following are the different farmer associations as recipients of the demo farms starting from the North;

1. Airport Farmers Association or AFA located at Brgy Casiongan. Most of the farmers are rebel returnees who had been actively involve in vegetable production. The group had been closely monitored by Mrs Norma Reston who is the assigned BAW or Barangay Agriculture Worker of the Brgy Jubay.












2. Still located in the northernmost part of Calubian is the cluster of barangays which formed one farmer association such as the DLPJ FFA or the Dalumpines-Laray-Pal og-Jubay Farmers and Fishermen Association.




3. The Caruyucan Agri-Marine Ventures Association or CAMVA is an agrupation of farmers and fishermen of Brgy Caruyucan with Brgy Captain Rafaelito Sillar as its leader. The group is also actively involved in some livelihood activities aside from farming.





4. Next  is the Inalad Farmers and Fishermen Association of Brgy Inilad. Below are some pictures during their establishment of the demo-farm;



5. The Calubian Central Farmers Association- this association is located in Brgy Villalon, Calubian, Leyte. Some of its members are coming from the neighboring barangays of Paula, Hda Enage, Railes and Labtic.






6. The Bresa Agricultural Cooperative or BAC was organized during the time when the Heifer International Philippines an  NGO based in the US was still active in Calubian. Its membership are the members of the different self-help group organized under Heifer.



7. The Kabicolan Agri-Farmers Association or KAFA is an association located at Sitio Kabicolan of Brgy Villanueva. It has already been a recipient of some equipment coming from the DA Regional Office 8 as well as from Heifer who had awarded them a rice mill.








8. The Calubian Association of Rural Enterpreneurs or CARE is an association of business minded individuals. This group is so active in pooling financial resources that made them the first millionaire under the DISOP assisted group of associations. They had established their farm in the mountainside of the barangay.


9.  The Kawayanan Farmers Integrated Livelihood Association or KFILA is located at Brgy Kawayanan whose membership are coming from Brgy Kawayanan and Dulao.



10. The Brgy Petrolio Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative or PETFA MPC  is one of the original farmer cooperative which was organized under the leadership of the PCA people. They had also been a recipient of this project;



11. The Calubian Agri-Products Producers Association or CAPPA is an association located Sitio Kalunasan, Brgy Tagharigue, Calubian, Leyte. This group is so active in doing agripreneurial activities and even a consistent supplier of Organic vermicast through the assistance of DAR.


12. The Juson Farmers and Fishermen Association or JusFFA whose members are coming from Juson, Villahermosa and Garrido.


13. The Nipa Farmers and Fishermen Association of Brgy Nipa.



14. Last but not the least the MVCCrOP FFA or the Mahait-Veloso-Cantonghao-Cristina-Obispo and Pates Farmers and Fishermen Association, another cluster barangays formed into one association.
