Initially, the plan is to identify farmers with five heads female goat who are willing to undergo a six-months intensive training on goat production. Since not much of the farmers have that required number of heads of goat, the finally agreement was to reduce the number of goat to only three females.
Since the Municipality of Calubian is very eager to implement the program and through the active mobilization of Mr Minandro J. Napoles, the FLS-GEM had started last September 2018 with 25 participants who also showed their willingness to finish the training-workshop.
One of the strategy is to conduct farm visitation where classes are conducted in farmers of different members. Deworming is among the activities conducted in the field. This operation ensures that the goat are free from internal parasites to ensure good health during their entire life. Photos above showed such activities.
Field exposure and field trips were among the essential activities to augment the knowledge of the participants. The Malitbog Experimental Station was among the site visited (above) as well as successful farms in Palompon and Isabel (below).
In February 20, 2019, participants were surprised since all finishers of the course were given two heads female goat or doe to augment their own stocks. To officially end the six months seminar-workshop, a culmination program was conducted last March 12, 2019 at the ABC Hall with Hon Mayor Doroteo N. Palconit assisted by VSU-ATI FLS-GEM Focal person Mr. Allen Goroy distributed the certificates. Participants were so thankful for the new knowledge they learned during the seminar.
